The way we are eating is changing because many of us now know and appreciate that the way we produce and think about the food we eat every day is a reflection of our culture. At our restaurant Herb Library we are optimistic and take the necessary steps to ensure we eat correctly and responsibly. Our diners realize that their food is created by people who really care about what they put on the plate. They use carefully sourced, sustainably grown vegetables and salads from the mountains, to create appealing, healthy and satisfying dishes while constantly experimenting with ingredients and raising standards! We offer a plant-based cuisine for herbivores and tasty options for omnivores developed from the idea that we could make a difference to the already-creative dining scene in Ubud. Why do we dare to be so and what makes us different? We eschew deep-fry as a food preparation method, everything is quickly, freshly and lovingly made to order and our menu is quirky enough to inspire diners to experiment and try interesting new flavours without losing sight of their old favourite tastes. Egg-stra-ordinary sweet or savoury all day dining, Coolest Salads, Wonderful Wokstars and Oodles of Noodles are just some of the headings for new and interesting dishes available at Herb Library. Walk-in guests can also enjoy the special Ayurvedic menu after a consultation with food personality Diana von Cranach and Doc Suresh, the Indian in-house wellness practitioner. Our room service at Alaya Resort Jembawan is also very inspired. Called ‘Take me to your Room’, the menu offers a huge choice of artisan breads made in Ubud, Italian cheeses produced in the south of the island, fresh jar noodles and salads to order, homemade sauces and much more for their sandwich fillings.
