Dinner for Two

Many maybe wonder where a restaurateur like Rajawali Suriadiredja would go for having meals. Well, he is no different from others. In fact, he loves to take his wife to a nice dinner for two and here are his picks.

Nishiazabu Imadoki

For not-so-formal dinner, Rajawali recommends this Japanese restaurant to put on the bucket list. Once asked about his must-have menu, he hurriedly answers the soba noodle as he claims it is the best soba in the island. The soba is imported directly from Japan so no wonder the taste is authentic. True that it sounds a bit odd to savor a hot dish in a place like Bali. But for people living here, alternatives should always be provided.

Situated in the groovy site of Bali, Seminyak, Kilo offers contemporary Asian flavours on every dish served. The architecture is stunning, reflecting a glass house with modern industrial design. At night it projects a very romantic display, lit by dimmed light. Also, don’t forget to order their Spicy Margarita or Sake Sangria before or after meal.

Happy Chappy

Bringing the vibe of Hong Kong to the town, Rajawali tends to savor the delight of Happy Chappy’s dim sum selection and the roasted duck. He argues that they have a clean taste and the best quality ingredients. On Sundays, particularly, there are dim sum carts to complete your degustation of authentic Chinese snacks. Plus, when you enter the restaurant you will not feel Bali but truly somewhere in Hong Kong.

Gula Bali

Above all, he and his wife oftentimes spend their time for some comfort food a.k.a traditional Indonesian food. Gula Bali caters a selection of Balinese food, rujak (fruit platter with special sauce), gado-gado (mix vegetables peanut sauce) and es campur  (a bowl of shredded ice with syrup and fruit). Besides the price is affordable, the ambience is so traditional, built in teak wooden imitating Javanese house with an appointed lawn.
